सामान्य योग्यता (General Eligibility):

• नागरिकता: उम्मीदवारों को भारत का नागरिक होना अनिवार्य है।
• शैक्षणिक योग्यता: NCTE (राष्ट्रीय अध्यापक शिक्षा परिषद) द्वारा निर्धारित शैक्षणिक एवं प्रशैक्षणिक (B.Ed / D.El.Ed) योग्यता होना अनिवार्य है।
• विषय शिक्षक: विशिष्ट विद्यालय अध्यापकों के लिए संबंधित विषय की स्नातक (BCA) डिग्री में न्यूनतम योग्यता मानी जाएगी।

शिक्षक पात्रता परीक्षा (TET Requirements):

• प्राथमिक विद्यालय शिक्षक (कक्षा 1 से 5): CTET Paper-I अथवा STET Paper-I उत्तीर्ण।
• मध्य विद्यालय शिक्षक (कक्षा 6 से 8): CTET Paper-II अथवा STET Paper-II उत्तीर्ण।
• माध्यमिक विद्यालय शिक्षक (कक्षा 9 से 10) एवं विशेष शिक्षक: STET Paper-II उत्तीर्ण।
• उच्च माध्यमिक शिक्षक (कक्षा 11 से 12): STET Paper-III उत्तीर्ण।
• छूट (Exemption): वर्ष 2012 से पूर्व नियुक्त एवं कार्यरत शिक्षक जो सक्षमता परीक्षा (Daksha Pariksha) उत्तीर्ण हैं, उन्हें TET में छूट प्राप्त है।

• सामान्य वर्ग (General): न्यूनतम 60% अंक (90 अंक)
• पिछड़ा वर्ग / अत्यंत पिछड़ा वर्ग (EBC / अति पिछड़ा): न्यूनतम 55% अंक (82 अंक)
• SC / ST एवं दिव्यांग (PWD) अभ्यर्थी: न्यूनतम 50% अंक (75 अंक)
• अन्य राज्य के अभ्यर्थी (सभी वर्ग हेतु): संबंधित राज्य में जो भी मानदंड (न्यूनतम अंक) निर्धारित हो, वही मान्य होगा।
