How to Download Admit Card (Hall Ticket) for Government Exams
Last updated:
Your admit card, also called a hall ticket or call letter, is the document that lets you enter the exam centre. This guide shows how to download it, what to check on it and what to bring on exam day.
Admit card and exam city slip are not the same thing
Many recruitments first release an exam city intimation slip, which only tells you the city of your exam so you can plan travel. The admit card comes later and carries the exact centre address, date, shift and reporting time. You cannot enter the centre with the city slip alone.
Steps to download your admit card
- Open the official website of the recruiting body and find the "Admit Card" or "Candidate Login" link.
- Choose the exam name and post you applied for.
- Log in with your registration number and password, or with your roll number and date of birth.
- Enter the captcha and open the admit card.
- Download the PDF and print it clearly on A4 paper. Print the photograph and signature sections properly.
What to verify on the admit card
- Your name, father or mother name, date of birth and category are correct.
- The photograph and signature are visible and match you.
- Roll number, exam date, shift and reporting time are clearly printed.
- The exam centre name and full address are readable, and the instructions section is included.
What to carry on exam day
- The printed admit card.
- The original photo ID the notice asks for, for example Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN or passport.
- Passport-size photographs, if the notice asks for them.
- A pen or pencil, only if the instructions allow it. Phones, smart watches and other electronic items are usually not allowed inside.
If something is wrong or the admit card does not open
Do not wait for exam day. Use the helpline number or email given in the notification and explain the problem with your registration number. Mistakes in a name or photograph are easier to fix days before the exam than at the gate.
Plan your journey
Visit or check the route to the centre in advance, reach well before the reporting time and remember that gates usually close before the exam starts. Late candidates are normally not allowed to enter.
